OVERALL SCORE 86 |
The UPPAbaby Cruz is a fantastic everyday stroller with numerous included luxuries. The reversible seat, large sun canopy, telescoping handlebar, all-wheel suspension, and adjustable leg rest are just some of the features of the Cruz. It’s a great option for city dwellers and suburban inhabitants alike. Though it is a full sized stroller, the narrow frame allows parents to maneuver it through tighter areas and avoid accidentally bumping into things. The extra large basket can hold all your essentials, and any purchases you may acquire while out. The child seat has multiple positions, so you can adapt the stroller to your needs and change it as your child grows. It can become a travel system with the UPPAbaby Mesa car seat, or other compatible car seats. |
HOW THE STROLLERS ARE REVIEWED:
The following chart rates the stroller for the most important stroller criteria for product specifications, effectiveness, parent preferences, and child comfort.
RATING (SCORE):

|
DURABILITY
Excellent – 9/10
The UPPAbaby Cruz has excellent durability. The lightweight aluminum frame is sturdy and solid. It can stand up to rough conditions without flexing or giving. The strong frame will give your years of use, and if you decide to expand your family, it’ll be perfectly intact for baby 2.
WEIGHT
Excellent – 9/10
This stroller is surprisingly lightweight for its size and usability. Thanks to the aluminum frame, this stroller does not compromise on weight. At only 22 lbs, the UPPAbaby Cruz is light enough to carry around if you need. Pushing your baby all day won’t wear you out.
BRAKES
Very Good – 8/10
The braking mechanism on this stroller is easy to use and effective. There is a single red pedal located between the two rear wheels. The single action brake can be engaged and disengaged with one foot. It’s so easy to use that you can activate the brakes with flip flops on.
COMPACT
Very Good – 7/10
The UPPAbaby Cruz is rather compact for a full-sized stroller. While much larger than an umbrella stroller, compared to similar strollers the Cruz is pretty small. The frame is built narrower, which makes it more suitable for city use. However, when folded the Cruz is not compact. This makes it a bit difficult to travel with.
“This stroller is worth every penny. It’s beautiful, so easy to use, and has every feature you could ask for.”

EASE OF USE
Excellent – 10/10
The UPPAbaby Cruz is user-friendly. Parents report that this stroller has all the features they need for a hassle-free trip out. The wheels glide easily and the adjustable handlebar caters to different heights. Changing the seat position is uncomplicated and can be done in a matter of seconds. The large storage basket can accommodate all your belongings, so you won’t have to carry bags on your shoulders while pushing the Cruz.
FOLDING
Very Good – 8/10
Folding the Cruz is not difficult, but requires two hands. While the website advertises a one-step fold process, the actual act of folding the stroller resembles a two-step process. There are two levers on either side of the handlebar which need to be pulled to fold the stroller. The Cruz folds in half. The stroller has automatic locking and stands on withs own. Again, the fold is not compact and the bulkiness is one of the only true negatives for this product.
GRIP
Excellent – 9/10
The handlebar on the Cruz is comfortable for parents to grip. The handlebar height adjusts by telescoping in and out, which allows parents of differing heights to use this stroller without complaint. It is not the easiest stroller to push one handed.
MANEUVERABILITY
Excellent – 9/10
Maneuvering this stroller is generally easy. Compared to the older model of this stroller, the wheels are larger and move more effortlessly. The all-wheel suspension helps to absorb any shocks and allows the stroller to glide over any hiccups in the road. The front wheels can lock to prevent swiveling. Parents will need two hands to push this stroller since the handlebar adjustment mechanism is located in the center of the handlebar.
“Two months later and I’m still obsessed with the stroller. I’ve had no issues with grass, rocky roads or uneven pavement. We’ve been on many trips to the mall and had no issues in some narrower aisles. I also frequently use the stroller in the grocery store since babe can’t sit in a cart yet, and I LOVE how much the basket holds..”

ROUGH TERRAIN
Very Good – 7/10
This stroller does have all-wheel suspension and rubber wheels which allows it to move over rougher surfaces. The Cruz is not meant to tackle trails or other rough terrain, but it should handle your regular everyday surfaces, like grass, just fine.
ACCESSORIES
Very Good – 8/10
The UPPAbaby Cruz comes with a few accessories including a rain cover, a bumper bar, and rain shield. With the big price tag on this stroller, having these accessories included is a plus. You can purchase additional accessories as well. You may buy a car seat adapter or bassinet for your newborn.
EASY TO ASSEMBLE
Very Good – 8/10
Setting up the Cruz only takes a few minutes! The easy-to-follow manual has 7 steps to put the stroller together. The process is relatively intuitive and soon after arrival, your stroller will be good to go!
EASY TO CLEAN
Very Good – 8/10
Cleaning the stroller is relatively easy. The canvas fabric that covers the stroller wipes clean. The Footrest is plastic, which you can clean without problems.
“Sure it is expensive, but it feels like it was built with the quality you’d expect from something this expensive. We tried out several other strollers before this one and while they were significantly cheaper it was also obvious that they were mostly made with plastic.”

STORAGE
Excellent – 10/10
Storage on the Cruz is fantastic! The undercarriage basket is giant! You can fit a diaper bag, and your other belongings without fail.
CHILD COMFORT
Very Good – 10/10
The UPPAbaby Cruz is a wonderful ride for your little one. The full recline lets your baby nap on excursions out. The large sun canopy offers great sun protection. The leg rest is adjustable, and the seat is well-padded. Your baby will have no complaints about sitting in this stroller
SUN CANOPY
Excellent – 9/10
The sun canopy is large and has an extendable portion to help protect our child from the sun. Not only is it absolutely huge, the canopy has SPF 50+ to further protect your little one. The peek-a-boo window is big and made of mesh. Parents can easily keep an eye on out their child.
SUSPENSION
Very Good – 8/10
There is all-wheel suspension on the UPPAbaby Cruz. You are guaranteed a smooth ride when pushing the stroller around town. If you need to take the stroller onto grass or wood chips, the suspension should absorb some of the shock too.
WHAT DO EXPERTS SAY?
“While having a lot of the features of a full size stroller, it’s lighter, has smaller footprint, and a more compact fold. This model is somewhere in between a Vista and G-Luxe.” – Moms Stroller Review
“This stroller is a pleasure to use and the storage bin is large enough to meet almost any need you would have strolling out your door and running errands. ” – Baby Gear Lab
“The UPPAbaby Cruz won’t be the right fit for every family or budget, but it’s a great stroller that has been thoughtfully designed to adapt to your family’s changing needs over time. It can be made even more versatile with some added accessories.” – Strollable
