Durability

Very Good  – 7/10

The J is for Jeep Brand North Star Stroller is durable for a lightweight stroller. However the frame is thin compared to other lightweight strollers. However, users have claimed that it is durable and not as flimsy as it seems. For that reason, it is a good candidate for a travel stroller. It will withstand airplane trips and bumpy rides.

Jeep Brand North Star Stroller

Weight

Excellent – 9/10

The Jeep Brand North Star Stroller is very lightweight at 10lbs. This is due to its thin and lightweight frame. Its lightweight design allows users to pick the stroller up with ease. Transporting the stroller up and down stairs won’t cause any problem or back pain.

Brakes

Very Good – 7/10

This stroller has two individual brakes on the rear wheels. The front wheels can also lock if the user has to go over rougher terrain. Parents need to lock both rear wheels to ensure that the stroller does not accidentally roll away. This type of braking mechanism is popular amongst umbrella strollers and it is not flip flop friendly.

Compact

Excellent – 9/10

The Jeep Brand North Star Stroller is quite compact. The seat is slim and and is only 18 inches wide. Folded, the stroller takes up little space. The compactness is great for traveling or throwing in the trunk. This stroller works well in tight spaces and you won’t accidentally knock into things.

“IT FOLDS UP: This one is obvious because it’s an umbrella stroller but it’s really compact
Room to grow: It looks like it will grow with my daughter until at least 2 which is awesome”

Ease of Use

Excellent – 10/10

The stroller is easy to use. All  of its mechanisms are straightforward and don’t cause any headaches. Folding, adjusting the canopy, and swiveling the handlebars do not require any complex thinking. Everything moves around with the click of a button.

Folding

Very Good – 8/10

The Jeep Brand North Star does fold with ease, but the reason this stroller could not get a higher rating is because in order to fold the stroller the user must bend over. The stroller also folds into the ground and does not stand on its own.

Grip

Very Good – 7/10

The North Star Stroller has foam padded handlebars that are adjustable. While the handlebars do not adjust in height, they are able to rotate to the user’s liking. This ergonomic design offers a comfortable grip. Like other umbrella stroller, the handlebars are J-shaped.

Maneuverability

Very Good – 7/10

The stroller is easy to maneuver, but it cannot get a perfect score since its wheels are small. The 5.5 inch wheels make it hard for this stroller to adapt to different environments. It works best on paved and smooth surfaces. Don’t expect this stroller to take on anything too crazy.

“We bought this stroller to use with our 9 month old grand-daughter because we remember having these relatively light-weight, easily foldable strollers. Unlike those of the 1980s, this one has a visor, a cup holder, a place to put stuff underneath, a bag for carrying stuff on the back, and a removable back panel for hot weather so lots of new features which are quite nice without adding much to the weight.”

Rough Terrain

Good – 5/10

The Jeep Brand North Star Stroller is not made to venture on rough terrain. Its wheels are small and made of plastic. It works best on flat surfaces, like sidewalks.

Accessories

Good – 6/10

The stroller does come with a small bag that can be hung behind the stroller. The stroller’s storage basket is small and can fit little inside. Parents can also purchase a travel bag when using this stroller in the airports or traveling to improve transportability.

Easy to Assemble

Very Good – 10/10

The stroller is very easy to assemble. It comes mostly assembled when in the box. All the user needs to do is pop on the wheels!

Easy to Clean

Very Good – 8/10

A quick wipe down should resolve any dirtiness.  The fabric is light and breathable.

“A lightweight umbrella stroller was the logical next step. But it had to be truly lightweight (other than carrying my child, I don’t work out!), with recline, and most importantly, easy to fold and unfold with one hand. This was pivotal for me since I have an active child and would not trust that he would patiently stand next to me while I fumbled with two hands to fold a stroller. So, the Pliko Mini had all that I looked for.”

Storage

Very Good – 7/10

The Jeep Brand North Star Stroller does not have much storage compared to other lightweight strollers. It has a tiny basket, and it cannot hold anything too large. On top of this, to compensate for the small amount of storage space, it comes with a bag that the user can hang on the back of the stroller.

Child Comfort

Good – 6/10

The seat is not that comfortable since it only has light padding and the leg rest is not adjustable. The seat also does not recline so this will make it hard for the child to nap. The sun canopy is large, which provides good sun protection.

Sun Canopy

Very Good – 8/10

The sun canopy is a good size on this stroller and protects the child very well. It also has an extension on top of the black canopy. The only thing missing from this canopy is a peekaboo window. Compared to many other umbrella strollers, the Jeep’s sun canopy is great.

Suspension

Good – 6/10

The stroller is equipped with frontal suspension, however it is not as effective as other strollers. The user should not depend on the front wheel to absorb all the shock. It will not fare well on rougher surfaces since the wheels are made of hard plastic.

What do Experts Say?

“But for a low price range, the J is the Jeep Brand North Star is the sure winner for the spot. North Star is the perfect stroller for the family who loves the outdoors. Aside from its affordability, it is comfortable, convenient and safe to use.” – Moms Best Umbrella Strollers Review
